Garden Commons
Building 2 is envisioned as a Social Café and Indoor Garden Commons that supports aging in place through a Mid-Century Biophilic design approach. The design integrates preserved historic brick, warm natural materials, and built-in planting zones to create a welcoming environment that encourages daily social interaction without institutional characteristics. Indoor garden beds are designed for residents to participate in growing vegetables and herbs through garden clubs and shared learning, with fresh ingredients incorporated into the café offerings. Human-scaled seating, clear circulation, and plant-integrated spaces foster comfort, autonomy, and dignity while making nature, nourishment, and community part of everyday life.
